Typhon Jebi – whose name means “swallow” in Korean – is the latest harsh weather to hit Japan this summer following rains, landslides, floods and record-breaking heat. The typhoon is the strongest to have hit Japan for 25 years.
The storm so far has battered the west of the country today with violent winds and heavy rain, killing six people and injuring scores more.

Currently, Japan’s authorities have issued evacuation advisories for more than 1 million people and canceled hundreds of flights as Typhoon Jebi made landfall along its west central coast.
